VISIT Easingwold- Yorkshire at its best

Our Music Page

Music is a very inportant aspect of our services at St Michaels in Tollerton.

We have a simple but effective procedure which means that we project the words to all our hymnns and music onto an Overhead or Computer screen. That way, your hands are free, and you can keep looking up (rather than down!) which is a much better and happier place to be. It also means of course that we are not restricted to songs found in standard church hymn books.

Our music group is centred around Tim on guitar (who actually is in charge of the music services  here at St. Michaels), Allyson on leading vocals - especially useful if we are not that familiar with a new song!, and Chris when he is taking the service, on Piano. Judy also often helps out as does Sally -Ann when Chris is taking services elsewhere.

We love singing here at St Michaels and we tend to sing the more modern Christian songs, but the traditional hymns are not totaly forgotten! Modern Christian songs can offer some profound and lovely lyrics and tunes in contemporay Christianity and can be  beautiful  and incredibly inspiring.

If you are not familiar with more modern Christian music, browse through these Youtube videos featuring some of our favourite Christian songs that we use in our worship on a regular basis. We hope that you enjoy them as much as we do, and can as a result explore a new side to your thinking about God and worship in Church Services. Singing should be joyous not dreary and we feel we benefit in our faith as a result.

It also means that we can find room for songs tht inspire children (would you believe the adults have fun singing them too?)

Our youth who find St. Michael's an inspiring place to attend are encouraged to help out with our music - and they certainly jump at the chance to show off! We have a great musical group now consisting of guitars, violins and flutes backing our core musicians!

It's a fact

In 2012, Sutton Bank was given Dark Sky status (Milky Way class) - in addition to its dark skies it has the added bonus of being accessible to Easingwold and villages of course!. A combination of low light pollution levels, clear horizons and good public access helped secure Sutton Bank the accolade making it the first in the National Park.
